How Does it Work?

What is Ozone?

Ozone (O3) is made of three Oxygen molecules and naturally occurs in the atmosphere and during lightning storms. It converts back to Oxygen (O2) quickly and has a smell very similar to that of chlorine.

Why Do You Use Ozone?

Ozone is primarily used to eliminate odors in a safe, non-toxic, eco-friendly way. It has the ability to eliminate smoke odors, cooking odors, kill bacteria, viruses (including Coronavirus), mold spores, and other contaminates that pollute indoor air quality.

Is Ozone Safe?

Yes, ozone is 100% green, non-toxic, leaves no residue, and is safe at low concentration levels. However, during the BioShock treatment, indoor areas are brought up to very high concentration levels of ozone. These high levels are not safe for humans, pets or plants so they are removed during treatment. However, by the end of the treatment, all of the ozone will have converted back to oxygen. Your home, vehicle or building is left with a clean smell, free of foul obnoxious odors, 100% safe and can be re-occupied immediately.

How Does Ozone Work?

Ozone is very quick to react with particles that it comes into contact with in the air and on surfaces. The third oxygen atom in ozone attaches itself to other molecules, permanently changing their structure to eliminate the odor-causing molecules. By oxidizing the outer cell wall, ozone causes bacteria, viruses, or mold spores to rupture thereby killing the cell and eliminating the source of odors.

Which Odors Can Be Removed with Ozone?

Almost any odor can be treated with ozone. At BioShock, we routinely treat odors caused by cigarettes, cooking, pets, mold, heavy fragrances, and body odor. Ozone is also effective on VOC’s (chemicals found in new carpet, paint, and stains)

Who Should Use the BioShock Treatment?

People or businesses who want to remove odors from their homes, apartments, rental units, offices, vehicles, RVs, boats and more. It is recommended by some Allergists for the treatment of indoor allergens.

How Long Does the BioShock Treatment Take?

The duration of the BioShock treatment depends upon the severity of the odor and the size of the space. Most treatments take between 8 and 24 hours. After treatment, the space is immediately safe for re-entry.

How Do You Know the Treatment is Working?

Ozone begins to fight odors at approximately 6.0 parts per million. However, the BioShock treatment is most effective when ozone levels reach 10.0 – 20.0 parts per million. BioShock uses a very sensitive handheld ozone meter to detect ozone levels as low as .01 parts per million and as high as 30 parts per million. We measure ozone levels to ensure maximum effective treatment.

I’ve tried everything! Will Ozone Work?

Even if you’ve scrubbed, wiped, cleaned, painted, and replaced carpet you will still never be able to reach every nook and cranny where odor exists. Because ozone is a gas, it can reach any place that air can reach. That means down deep in your ventilation system and in corners, inside cabinets, under and above things; in places that you just can’t or don’t want to reach.

Will the Odor Come Back?

No. Odors do not come back unless a new odor source is introduced.
